Friends 11 continued their winning streak with 2016 season’s first century from Jayaram

At last summer peeked around the door and suggested that it might, any time now, make an appearance. The warmer weather was enjoyed by F11 boys as they put on an excellent display of batting at John Ruskin’s, against Phoenix. It was a good come back for F11 after the loss against the EMCC on 22nd May 2016.

F11 won the toss and chose to Bat first. It was the opening pair, Shafeeque and Jairam who started cautiously for a good partnership, but lost shafeeque's wicket in quick session by the good bowling attack by Mahesh of Phoenix within the 2nd over of the game & unfortunate run-out of our experienced batsman Jaimon soon as well. After the loss of the two quick wickets, Sree kumar menon came to join  Jairam F11 ‘s inform batsman. They produced an array of mind blowing strokes which not only damned the bowlers' spirit but gave the spectator a good treat. They both build a partnership of 144 runs together in which Jairam's innings was clean and well paced. He brought his first century of the season in which includes 18 fours & 1 six which gave him a score of 106 runs. And well knock by Menon who managed to score 30 runs. When Phoenix got Sreekumar out they were getting relaxed at that time but they didn't know next person to come on crease was the most aggressive batsman of F11, George Riju. The VIRU like aggression from Riju created more destruction, which included 8 sixes & 1 four and within no time Riju scored 62 runs from just 20 balls. Then Phoenix brought back their opening pace bowler Suni who managed to end a classic innings of Jayaram Jayaraj soon after he reached his centuary which was the first UKMCL centuary of season 2016.

Batting doesn't end here for F 11 as intelligent batsman Midhun gave a great electrifying stroke play, resulted him scoring 42 runs in 24 balls. Finally, at the end of the first innings F11 managed to put highest score 283/9 on board from 35 overs, One of the best score in all time for F11 team history.

F11 started their best bowling attack by  Midhun & Anand. But the openers Gino and Manilal R batted sensibly and they managed to give a good start for their chase, within 4 overs they were 30 runs up on the board. But it was not too long for Midhun who strikes for F11, he took the most important wicket of Gino (Phoenix) who scored 15 runs from 6 balls. And there was small changes in bowling end with Midhun, the captain Justin had to started the spell from the other end who dismissed Manilal R with in the first over of his spell. And another quick wicket by Midhun of Rajesh(Phoenix) who just didn't get the chance to even score.

Then the middle order batsmen's of Phoenix Ajil & Kiran build a partnership of  37 odd runs but that  didn’t last for long, Justin removed both the batsmen's in quick session before they build up a big partnership. Another great spell was delivered by Abhilash & George Riju. Abhilash took 2 wickets in which he took  Geo (Phoenix) who scored 20 runs from 6 balls which was also one of the important wickets & was looking dangerous in slog attack. Mahesh (phoenix) wicket was named for Riju. And the last 2 wickets was taken by our part time bowlers Lojith & Jaimon each. Pratheek also contributed with the decent spell of 4 overs in which there was 1 maiden over. F11 put a full stop to the run chase of Phoenix in 26 over and F11 won the match by 134 runs.
