Cricket's oldest rivalry, is it Ashes or UKMCL’s Eastham Vs Croydon?

The Ashes is the name given to a special cricket series involving England and Australia. The two nations meet roughly every two years, with the winners claiming one of the most famous (and smallest) trophies in sport, the Ashes urn. The story of the Ashes began way back in 1882 when England was beaten at home for the first time by Australia.

However there is another rivalry in Cricket, not as famous as Ashes and not played between 2 nations!.

This relatively unknown cricket rivalry started in the UK and it’s between two old industrial towns located around the suburbs of the City of London.

Croydon and Eastham. Players involved were, don’t you get surprised!!

The new generation! Mallu boys of that era, yes, the new generation malayalee boys  of 1980s from Croydon and Eastham started one of the oldest malayalee cricket rivalries known in history.

For new generation UK malayalees , post 2000-2010 this rivalry may known as another storey from the oldies…  but for those players, who  fought for those trophies during the much awaited summer, those games were an escape to freedom, friendships and what more.

After the formation of United Kingdom Malayalee Cricket league, the oldest UK malayalee cricket rivalry continued as a day of fun, get together and game of cricket between Croydon Teams Vs Eastham teams, a nostalgic recreation of the past.

The winners have been  lifting the ‘Chellappan Pillai memorial ever rolling trophy’ and this year’s UKMCL Cricket Carnival has been planned on bank holiday Monday 30th of May 2016 at Cricket for change cricket centre, Plough Lane Wallington, Surrey SM6 8JQ.

United Kingdom Malayalee Cricket League would like to invite you all to this day of fun.
