UKMCL Xmas party & awards night 2017
UKMCL cricketing fraternity would like to extend to you a festive invitation to our annual Awards Evening and Christmas Party. The Awards ceremony is an opportunity to thank all the sponsors, players and supporting families that continue to form the backbone of our cricketing community
The Fords Sports & Social Club, Aldsborough Road, Ilford IG3 8HG will host the event on Saturday the 16th of December from 5.30 PM. It is going to be a great evening of festive fun, food and celebrations after a very successful year for UKMCL.
The last season was an eventful one that started with the inauguration of a new winter indoor cricket tournament; a new format of the game which all players and supporters found exciting and competitive. Friends XI won this tournamnet.
The season 2017 league competition continued to provide all the thrills and drama of competitive community cricket at its very best. Special congratulations to Global CC who produced an unbeaten run to win the league as ‘The invincibles’. A feat testimony to the collective spirit of the side.
Last season’s Twenty20 tournaments also introduced the first National Twenty20 Blast. It was a pioneering nation-wide event and still the highest paying 20/20 cricket competition in the UK Malayalee cricket circuit. The ‘Coventru Blues ‘ won the first prize of £2000; the ‘1983 Kerala Strikers’ won the second prize of £1000 and Phoenix CC won the third prize of £500.
A full list of winners can be found at the end of this report.
This year the UKMCL youth players have found success in all forms of the game and UKMCL are celebrating their success with special awards. The more familiar faces that provide the experience of age are also being awarded under ‘veterans’ category for special performances.
Amongst the many, some individuals have supported the league and the community in all forms of the game for over 30 years. UKMCL are honouring the following individuals for their outstanding contributions to community cricket in London.
