Martians – Winners of UKMCL Fair Play Award 2016

New comers Martins declared as winners of UKMCL Fair Play Award 2016 after a close contest with the rest of the eight participating clubs.

Martians ended the season at the top of the fair play table ranking.  Friends 11 and Phoenix CC finished at second and third position respectively by missing the award in a narrow margin. It was well disciplined and dedicated overall performance on and off the field from Martians which secured their place at the top of the table.

UKMCL introduced the fair play award for the first time this year with a view to promote the concept of cricket as a gentleman’s game as we often hear in the old days.

UKMCL, committed to develop the community cohesion via cricket among the Malayalee community in the UK, decided this year to promote the importance of fair play in the game of cricket and introduced this new award. Points are awarded to the clubs and players based on umpire’s report after the match on a weekly basis to decide the winners.
