UK Study Link and MCC Jointly Lift the Prestigious Buzz Sweets UKMCL T20 Trophy 2016

UK Study Link and MCC lift the prestigious Buzz Sweets UKMCL T20 trophy after the final match being stopped due to bad light by umpires Hussain and Antony. The match was evenly poised at the time of stoppage and was heading to a nail biting finish, as both teams fought hard with international and IPLplayers like Carl Mumba, Sachin Rana and Vikas Tokas lined up on both sides. Earlier on the day, 12 teams participated in the tournament on a warm and sunny day in Hainault. The group stage matches were exciting as ever and the winners from each of the four groups were qualified for the knock-out stage. In Group A, Mauk qualified for the semifinal after beating Buzz 11 Croydon and KSSC Bexhill in close encounters. Global CC emerged as winners of Group B after beating Griffins and Martians to qualify for the knock-out stage. The toughest group of all was Group C where, MCC, Harrow and Northampton fought hard for their place in the semifinals. MCC won both of their group matches and qualified to the knock-out stage. In Group D, star studded UK Study Link won both their group matches comfortably beating EMCC and Hornbills to qualify for the semifinal. MCC played against Global in the first semifinal. Sensible batting by the top order batsmen with the support of some aggressive bowling performance by the Zimbabwean international Carl Mumba sealed the match in favor of MCC. Second semifinal between UK Study link and Mauk was the most exciting match of the tournament which UK study link won in the end.Thanks to their star studded line up including IPL players like Sachin Rana, Vikas Tokas and Delhi Ranji player Rohit. Rohit played a patient innings to see UK study link successfully chase the challenging total set my Mauk. Final match reduced to 10 overs each side due to the bad light conditions. Batting first, UK study link batsmen set a decent total on the board. Rohit again played a vital role with a sensible innings for UK study link. Carl Mumba continued from where he left in the semifinal,with some real fast bowling, beating the batsmen on multiple occasions. Mahesh played some terrific shots at the end to accelerate the score for UK study link. MCC batsmen started steadily in the beginning, but in an attempt to accelerate the score, they lost wickets in regular intervals. The match was heading to a close finish at one stage with MCC needed 26 runs in 4 overs with 4 wickets in hand. But both the umpires decided to stop the match due to bad light. UK Study link and MCC were declared joint winners of the Buzz Sweets UKMCL T20 championship 2016. Later UKMCL chairman Nawaz Rawther distributed the awards and the cash prize of £1500. Rohit of UK study link won the best batsman of the tournament. Larvett and Praveen of MCC won the best bowler and the best wicket keeper award respectively. UKMCL secretary Biju Pillai thanked the sponsors Buzz Sweets, participant teams and supporters of the tournament.
